Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren will be part of a press conference at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, at the Main Street Armory to help the Rochester Raiders indoor football team kick off the season with the American Indoor Football league. The event will introduce the team’s staff, coaches and players, as well as outline partnerships that aim to strengthen the community as it supports the team’s quest for a championship.
“It is my pleasure to welcome the Raiders back to the city,” Warren said. “I believe this move will be beneficial to the team and to the Main Street Armory. I’d like to wish team owner Mike Benner and the players and coaches a very successful inaugural season at the newly named Jeep Marina Arena at the Main Street Armory.”
Benner and head coach Mark Thurston will speak about the direction of the franchise as it makes its return to the Armory. The new sponsorship from the Marina Auto Group will help provide a top-notch atmosphere for the team’s five home games between April and May. Among the announcements will be the team’s partnership with the Hillside Children’s Center. Located at 1183 Monroe Ave., Hillside Children’s Center is a provider of care for youth and families with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, or life-circumstance challenges. HCC has agreed to employ members of the Rochester Raiders roster who qualify as counselors, giving them another source of income while they help strengthen the community.
